As part of the bicentennial celebrations of the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone by Jean-François Champollion, a screening of the movie “The Hieroglyphs Palace” will be organized at the IFE’s auditorium. We will delve at the heart of the excavation sites of the “TT 33,” the largest tomb in Egypt located near Luxor. We will follow in exclusivity the scientific mission of the IFAO (French Institute of Oriental Archaeology in Cairo) to discover the priests, scribes, painters, engravers and tomb builders who passed on to us the history of ancient Egypt on tomb walls and papyri. Who was this special class of the population at the service of the Pharaohs that interests archaeologists so much today? What do these inscriptions tell us about the daily life of the Egyptians?
