In 2022, Egypt will have 14 accredited schools with a French curriculum throughout the country.
French educational institutions approved by the Ministry of Education form a fast-growing network. More than 375,000 French and foreign students are enrolled in 530 schools in 140 countries.
More than forty new schools have joined the network since 2019.
This growth is part of the dynamic initiated by the French Language and Plurilingualism Plan, which sets the target of doubling enrolment by 2030.
Accredited schools enable students to study abroad using French curricula, while respecting the values and requirements of the French education system. They are open to both French and foreign students.
Schooling in these establishments enables all pupils to acquire basic knowledge, in particular a command of the French language but also of at least two foreign languages in a multicultural approach.
For the 2024-25 school year, Egypt has 37 labelled schools, divided between Cairo and Alexandria.
Egypt has 45 French-speaking schools, 37 of which have been awarded the label. The LabelFrancÉducation is managed by the Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger (AEFE) and awarded to schools by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) to highlight the quality of French-language bilingual education. Egypt is ranked 5th out of 67 countries in the world with French-speaking schools.
