The media libraries network

The media libraries are special places of culture dedicated to reading, information, exchange, new technologies and leisure. The French Institute in Egypt’s media libraries network in Cairo-Mounira, Heliopolis and Alexandria offer you rich collections gathering nearly 60,000 documents of all kinds: novels, essays, comics, newspapers, magazines, films, and digital works, in all areas and for all audiences.

As spaces for exchange, sharing, studying and training, the French Institute in Egypt’s media libraries also offer you a cultural programing intended for all throughout the year (literary events, debates, youth workshops, exhibitions, etc.) as well as spaces and collections aimed at French and Arabic learners and students.

The staff of the three media libraries is at your disposal to welcome you, advise you and counsel you. The media libraries are open to all (registered and unregistered). A Wi-Fi connection is available to the users of the IFE’s media library in Mounira.

Discover our media libraries

The media library’s team is at your service to welcome you, advise you, and make you discover its full range of services and activities. Don’t hesitate to come by to work, read and discover, even if you are not registered.

Signing up for the French Institute in Egypt’s media libraries allows you to borrow documents (15,000 books, periodicals, DVDs, audio books, etc.) and grants you 24/7 access to the Culturethèque, which is the French Institute’s digital library.

Throughout the year, we offer activities intended for all audiences: literary and cultural gatherings (Goût des livres – Taste for books), exhibitions, workshops for the youth (l’Heure du conte – Storytelling time, L’atelier du livre – Book workshop, etc.) and teenagers (L’atelier de bande dessinée – Comics workshop, etc.).
