Francophonie

Francophonie(s)

March is the month when we celebrate La Francophonie (political group) and La Francophonie (linguistic group).

In partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Office of Francophone Affairs, in support of numerous Egyptian associations promoting La Francophonie including schools through performance arts, and in constant dialogue with the delegations of other member states of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie in Egypt (OIF – International Organization of La Francophonie), all the actors of the French delegation in Egypt are mobilized to offer you a festive and diversified programing.

Francophonie’ month

Every year, the month of March is the scene of a large number of events, both festive and educational, both cultural and political, centred on the language and values we share.

The events on offer will give everyone the chance to meet up, get to know each other and exchange ideas through performances, lectures and social events.

Come one, come all to celebrate the vibrant Francophonie in Egypt!

The group of french-speaking ambassadors in Egypt

The Groupe des Ambassadeurs Francophones (GAF), set up in 2022 by the French Ambassador to Egypt, brings together the member and observer states of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) accredited in Egypt. This group brings together countries that are not necessarily French-speaking, but which share common values such as the promotion of the French language, multilingualism and cultural diversity, as well as peace and human rights. The GAF plays a key role in political, educational, economic and cultural cooperation, strengthening the influence of La Francophonie in Egypt.

The group is constantly expanding, as is the OIF, which welcomed five new states and governments at the Villers-Cotterêts 2024 Summit: Angola, Chile, Nova Scotia (Canada), French Polynesia (France) and Saarland (Germany).

Every year, it organises the Mois de la Francophonie, a series of cultural, educational and artistic events involving local communities, from children to adults.
