The lava lamp

What can you build with vinegar, baking soda and oil? A lava lamp! Through a series of amazing experiments, the children will understand several principles of chemistry (density, hydrophobic liquid, chemical reactions…) and then, thanks to their new knowledge, make from scratch a lava lamp.

Because of the handling of liquids, it is recommended to dress children with clothes that can be stained.

Taïna Cluzeau is a journalist. Through her association Faire ta science! she wants to raise public awareness on scientific research, especially in countries rarely publicised for their discoveries. She coordinates exhibitions and workshops on various scientific themes in Africa in order to change the public’s view on the work of researchers and collaborates with several French popular science magazines (I’m interested, National géographic, Science et Vie junior, Le journal du CNRS…).
