Experience the unveiling of the exhibition ‘Photo Kegham of Gaza: Unboxing,’ meticulously crafted and curated by Kegham Djeghalian Jr. as he converses with his grandfather’s legacy and significance.
The grandson’s primary research is focused on exploring Kegham of Gaza – the person, the photographer and his legacy – and through this, is confronted with a non-linear reading of Gaza’s potential histories. The notions of ruptures, disrupted histories and an ‘unmade archive’ mark Kegham Jr’s approach in engaging with the surviving fraction of the archive; a concept he negotiates to be crucial for attempting to demystify Gaza: the land, the people, the memory and the subjective histories that once were.
Delve into the rich tapestry of Gaza’s visual history as captured by the lens of Kegham Djeghalian (1915-1981) over nearly four decades.
His photographic legacy transcends mere documentation, offering a vivid portrayal of the social, official, political, and everyday aspects of life in Gaza.
Join us on an immersive archival journey expertly guided by his grandson, the esteemed artist, creative director and educator, Kegham Djeghalian Jr., as he unveils the profound impact of one of Gaza’s foremost photographers.
