EU Film Screenings in Alexandria – Screening of “Alphaville”

Based on the initiative of the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt, in the framework of the celebrations of Europe Month, a series of film screenings is programmed to take place in Alexandria with the collaboration of various Representations, Embassies and Diplomatic Missions of the Member States in Egypt. Films are to be screened at various Cultural Centers in Alexandria during the month of May 2023.
You are invited to the first screening taking place at the French Institute of Egypt in Alexandria and the science fiction film “Alphaville” by Jean-Luc Godard.
SYNOPSIS
In an era after the 1960s, the authorities of the “outer planets” sent the famous secret agent Lemmy Caution on a mission to Alphaville, a dehumanized city a few light years away from Earth. Caution is in charge of neutralizing Professor von Braun, the almighty master of Alphaville, who has abolished human feelings there. A computer, Alpha 60, governs the entire city. A message from Dickson, an ex-secret agent, orders Lemmy to destroy Alpha 60 and save those who are crying”. But he is kidnapped, interrogated by Alpha 60 and sentenced to death.
