CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Opening of the call for applications for the French Institute in Egypt’s program at the Cité Internationale des Arts.
Whether you are an artist, craftsman, fashion designer, musician, dancer, or filmmaker, don’t hesitate to apply for the Cité Internationale des Arts project call in Paris, 2025.
Supported by the French Institute in Paris, the French Institute in Egypt, and the Cité Internationale des Arts, this annual program offers you the opportunity to spend 3 months in residence in the heart of Paris, in the Marais district. It is exclusively open to international artists residing abroad who wish to develop a research and creation project in Paris.
Candidates wishing to apply must be supported by the French Institute in Egypt, which will endorse their application.

- Street Arts/Circus/Puppetry
- Comics
- Cinema (fiction, animation, creative documentary)
- Exhibition Curatorship/Art Criticism
- Digital Creation (digital arts, video games, VR)
- Dance
- Design/Graphics
- Literature (fiction, essay, youth)
- Crafts
- Fashion
- Music (contemporary, jazz, classical, contemporary, for the screen)
- Photography
- Multidisciplinary Projects
- Theater
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the programme, the artist must:
- Be of Egyptian nationality or work and live in Egypt.
- Have completed their academic studies and/or have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the artistic sector.
- Have already developed one or more creation projects.
- Have a valid passport for at least 3 months after the end of the residency.
- Speak French and/or English.
Timeline:
Application submission: September 15 to October 10
Announcement of results: January 2024
Residency: April 2025 to April 2026
The residencies last for three months and will take place between April 2025 and April 2026 (subject to change), at the Cité Internationale des Arts in the heart of Paris. International transportation, a studio apartment of approximately 40 sqm, and residency allowances are covered.
The sessions run over 4 cycles.
- Arrival on April 8, 2025 – Departure on July 2, 2025
- Arrival on July 8, 2025 – Departure on October 2, 2025
- Arrival on October 7, 2025 – Departure on January 2, 2026
- Arrival on January 7, 2026 – Departure on April 2, 2026

Deadline: October 10, 2024 at 5pm (Cairo Time). Applications may be submitted in French or English.
The application should include:
- A portfolio (maximum 10 pages)
- One or more texts explaining the candidate’s practice and the project they intend to develop during their residency.
- A residency project proposal (maximum 2 pages)
- A declaration of honor attesting that the works presented within the application are indeed those of the artist;
- A comprehensive CV
- A motivation letter with the project proposal
- The candidate’s availability during the specified period
- The candidate’s contact information (email, phone number, and address)
- A letter of recommendation from an institution, organization, or recognized professional in the artistic discipline (maximum 1 page)
Applications from multiple candidates will not be accepted.
Additional charges (person accompanying the artist, child, extra nights, rehearsal studios, French 3 lessons, etc.) are the responsibility of the artists, and must be paid directly to the Cité internationale des arts. Details of additional services may be communicated to interested artists.
