The Downtown Contemporary Art Festival, also known as D-CAF, is an annual contemporary art festival that sheds light on Cairo’s contemporary arts scene. Starting in the month of October each year, the festival takes place to celebrate a variety of artistic mediums, including theatre, contemporary dance, music, visual arts and new media. D-CAF has established itself as one of Cairo’s most innovative contemporary art festivals by bringing artistic events by local and international artists and practitioners over the years.<\/p>\n

One of the main aims of the festival is to highlight Downtown Cairo as a vibrant cultural center. Since 2012, D-CAF has been using historical buildings, alleyways, storefronts, and rooftops as performance and exhibition spaces, offering visitors the chance to see the neighborhood\u2019s exceptional heritage in a whole new light. D-CAF’s 11th edition, which will take place from the 12th of October to the 5th of November, will showcase a variety of cultures and artistic expressions.<\/p>\n
